Used VS Certified Pre-Owned

Most likely you have heard the term certified pre-owned recently. But what does that mean and what is the difference between a used car, truck or SUV and a certified pre-owned Toyota?

Not every pre-owned vehicle that we get here at Team Toyota of Princeton makes the cut for the certified pre-owned program. First, it must be a Toyota vehicle. Our inventory of pre-owned vehicle features other popular automakers as well as Toyota. Next, each Toyota vehicle must be within 6 recent model years and have less than 85,000 miles. If either of those two requirements is not met then that specific Toyota vehicle cannot be labeled certified pre-owned. Both pre-owned and certified pre-owned vehicles are thoroughly inspected for quality and reliability. But to be a certified pre-owned Toyota each vehicle must be inspected by a factory trained technicians and pass a 160 point inspection.

Lastly, a certified pre-owned comes with a CARFAX vehicle history report and is backed by a 12 month/12,000-mile Comprehensive Warranty as well as a 7 year/100,000-mile Limited Powertrain Warranty. Other pre-owned vehicles may come with a vehicle history report or one can be done by request.
