Automatic Emergency Braking will be Standard by 2017

The Toyota Safety Sense™ package is already available at an affordable price on most new Toyota models. By the end of next year, however, Toyota promises to make it standard on 25 out of 30 Toyota and Lexus nameplates.

The central feature of Toyota Safety Sense is the automatic emergency braking (AEB) system. This uses a camera and millimeter wave radar or lasers to scan the road and detect potential collisions before they occur.

Toyota's New Safety Features Make Perfect Sense

You know what's sensible? Avoiding accidents on the road before they happen. Utilizing multiple sensors, this sensational safety suite is known only as Toyota Safety Sense.

Safety Sense will be rolling out on new Toyota models for 2016, and should be available on all our new vehicles within a few years.

Safety Sense works by employing a series of sensors to augment your own natural senses. The pre-collision system can detect potential frontal collisions, and give added braking support. If you cannot brake in time, automatic braking may be applied.
